Scene 4: Bathroom

Rules of Attraction - Suicide Scene

We watched this clip and were heavily influenced by the style of shots and editing used. We like the bright, simple mise-en-scene and the use of lots of close-up shots. The montage of her getting ready is an interesting technique that we felt built up tension and made the audience feel nervous and excited for what was going to happen.

We used a quick montage to show our character getting ready for the bath which meant the scene was only short. Inbetween most of the clips we also included shots of running feet which got progressively shorter. This is to convey the idea that Georgia is being stalked, which would build up tension and panic in the audience.

Additionally, we introduced the sound of heartbeats that got slowly faster to match the changing clips and to represent our character's fear. We also introduced a scream, smashing glass and camera flash sound effect which all follow the regular connotations of a horror movie.

For the main titles of our film, we created a simple image in Photoshop of the words "Dead Famous". We then imported the image into After Effects. The pixel aspect ratio was the same in Premiere and Photoshop. We then applied the 'Light Leaks - Random' preset animation. This created the flashing lightbulb effect we wanted to symbolise the paparazzi. We then exported this to Premiere and inserted on the time line.
