This is the main image that i'm using for my contents page. This image will be in the centre of the page which shows that the band is the main feature and will draw the reader's attention to the article.

This is the image that i'm using for my double page spread. I'm going to crop the sides off my image and have the text to the side. I chose to have the graffitied wall and the old bin in the background of my photo as i thought it gave off a grime/grunge look which fits in with the style of my magazine.

Double Page Spread Research
I really like the idea of having one large image as the background and layering the text over it, i think it looks really effective and makes the page stand out. I'm going to set out my double page spread in this way.

This is the contents page for NME
For this contents page i really like the band index, i think it's a really good idea as you can straight away flip to the page with the band on that you're looking for without having to go through the whole magazine. The fonts used are big, bold and easy to understand which encorporated with the colour scheme make the contents page really easy to understand. For my contents page i'm going to use ideas from both magazines such as the band index.

This is the contents page from the music magazine 'Q'
For this contents page i really like the way that everything is neat, orderly and well presented. There is one large image on the page which really draws the reader's attention towards the feature/band. The contents page follows a strict colour scheme which gives the page a clean and orderly look, as if everything goes together correctly. The fonts used are really bold and easy to understand. There is the date and an issue number in the top right hand corner of the page which makes it easy for the reader to identify which issue they're reading and if it's the most current issue avaliable to them.

This is the front cover of the popular music magazine NME.
I chose to research the different techniques used in this weekly music magazine such as typography, colour scheme and the layout. NME has a target audience of older teenagers and young adults which is what i'm aiming for in my magazine. As i'm doing a feature on a boy band, I decided to focus on magazine covers that had bands on instead of solo artists to give me some inspiration. The main image is large compared to the other images on the cover, this is to draw attention to the band and to show the target audience what and who the article is about. We can tell it's an indie mgazine because of the use of dark, bold colours and by the models on the front with their rugged looks.
