I designed a questionnaire to help me with deciding how much my target audience would pay for magazines what they would like inside it and so on...
1. How old are you?
2. What music magazine are you currently reading?
3. How much would you be willing to pay for a magazine?
4. How often do you buy magazines?
5. What would you like to see in your magazine?
6. Is there any magazines in which you don't like?
7. Who is your favourite band/artist?
8. Do you prefer articles or pictures when looking at magazines?
The answers to my questionnaire came back to me as people were between the ages of 16-18 and read any magazine which looks appealing to them, so I had to make sure that my music magazine immediately drew my target audience in. The prices people were willing to pay were between £1.90 and £2.70, so I decided that I would make my magazine £2.20 as NME and other magazines are also that price. When asking people what they would like to see they said more bands in the magazine and more interviews so I thought about possibly having a list of bands somewhere in my magazine perhaps on the contents page. People also said that they didn't like magazines that had to many colours and fonts which can often be hard to read, so I had to take this into consideration when planning my magazine. Also the last question many people said they would prefer to have more text and fewer pictures.
