Editing my front cover image

Once I had decided on the image I would use for my front cover, I moved onto the next step of editing it to make it look more professional, and to correct any imperfections on my model.

This is the original image of my model. I have cropped it so it is a closeup and you can easily compare the before and after images.

Firstly, I used the 'spot healing brush tool' to fix any minor blemishes and imperfections on my models face. I was pleased with the results but I noticed that there were a few strands of hair on my models face that were really obvious. I tried out using the 'spot healing brush tool' again but this time instead of using the 'proximity match' option, I used the 'create texture' option.

It was a successful attempt to get rid of the stray hairs on her face, so I moved on to the next step of editing. I noticed that she did have slight bags under her eyes, so using the same tool that I used to remove the hair, I smoothed out the skin under her eyes. I also used the brush tool with a low opacity on a very light pink colour to make her lips look more glossy and shiny.

Lastly, I used a small brush with a dark gray/black colour to add more eyeliner to my model. I did this as I believed it would make my model look more suitable for my magazine genre and appeal to my target audience. I used a light brush with low opacity to make her eyes appear more blue and stand out.

This is my original image followed by my finished, edited image.
