Research; Music Magazines - front cover

The masthead is bold and clearly visible, this catches the target audiences eye as it is at the very top of the front cover. Using a well known celebrity 'Janet Jackson' as the main image sells the magazine and makes people want to purchase it. The main headline however has a different typeface to the other stories/events - this also stands out as it is in a different colour to the masthead. There are four colours used, which work well with the main image, codes and conventions are also used, for example; a barcode and issue number. This magazine layout gave me ideas of how i could produce my final advertisement.

Contents page ideas!
These three examples of contents pages all have similar qualities; bold typeface and one main image. One of the three advertisements use a U.S.P,this also encourages the target audience to purchase the magazine - placing the U.S.P in a brightly coloured circle attracts the readers eye.

Double page spread!
The double page spread also uses a well known celebrity as their main image, as well as great use of bold typeface for both headings/sub-headings.

I decided to use these two models for my magazine as they appeal to my target audience – they achieve the ‘pop star - celebrity look’. Their dress sense, hair styles, makeup and overall appearance make them the perfect models to use for the music genre of my magazine.
