Research - Genre

I considered many different ideas when thinking about what Genre my magazine should be. I considered doing a magazine to do with more articles/features on classical music, but I took into consideration that my target audience was students, and I decided that classical music would only appeal to a niche market, meaning the majority of people would not be interested in this type of magazine. I then considered a type of magazine that students would enjoy, read and subsequently buy. I finally decided on creating a magazine similar to 'NME' with a genre of 'indie/alternative'. I believe this will suit my target audience as it is a popular catagory of music among a wide selection of students.
