Different front covers of music magazines

"Smash Hits" magazine is aimed at pre-teen/young teen girls that are interested in pop music and pop artists. You can tell this as the artist at the front of the maazine is always a young, recent artist that is generally in the genre of bubble-gum pop or pop. The colours used are usually pastel colours or lighter, baby colours, such as light pink or baby blue. They usually have posters of pop boy bands and male artists to appeal to young/pre-teen girls.

The "Jazz" magazine is aimed at the older generation interested in smooth/jazz music, though any age can read the magazine; males and females both can read it. The colours used suggest sophistication and depth and this fits in to the chilled-out, laidback image of the magazine. The font used looks clear and fancy, so this adds to the cultural element of the magazine. The artist at the front looks dynamic and interesting, and the look appeals to those that would be interested in this kind of magazine.

"Rock Sound" is generally aimed at people in their late teens/early twenties, and you can tell this by current bands featuring on the front cover. The colours used look quite eerie and sinister, and it helps create a edgy look to the magazine. There are lots of band names on the front so it interests the reader into buying the magazine. There are free posters advertised so it appeals to both males and females that like/are interested in the bands on the posters.
