TARGET AUDIENCE....
The target audience for my magazine is 17 year old white british boys or girls, who take an interest in indie/rock music and finding out the latest info on gigs/festivals. Although one of my models is slighlty older than that, he is symbolising a music idiol who is usually a few years older than the readers. I have chosen two models: Joe and Megan. I decided to use these two models as I felt that they fitted the right criteria and look for the magazine I would like to produce. Also they both have similar music tastes which I would like to project through their image to the readers.

This is Rhea and Chris, they are both 17 and White/British and are working class. They are examples of my target audience as my magazine will appeal to both male and females.
MODELS....
Joe.

When doing my photoshoot with Joe I very much wanted to portray a Pete Doherty image. With his natural messy image I found it quite easy to get him to portray this image. A middle class rockstar who isn't perfectly groomed or styled.
This is an example of one of the images that didn't work too well with Joe as the lighting was very poor and taken at a bad angle.
Megan.
Megan isn't one of my main models, however I definitely wanted to include her in my magazine with her model-like image, makeup and fashion sense I felt she would be ideal. Although I never intended for her to mirror a famous model or celebrity I felt her image was very modern with todays trends. She also fitted with my target middle class audience in relating to readers fashions.
Some of the pictures from outside didn't look very proffessional due to the lighting being poor. Here is one of the best images we took:
Here is one of the images which the lighting didn't really work too well on...

Magazine Research.
NME hes been published every week since 1952. Throughout that time the magazine has always mainly appealed to indie/rock/alternative musical fans. It has never truly focused on one specific genre of music. The colours of the front cover are plain and simple, reflecting the masthead which is visible and bold for readers to instantly recognise. The boldness of the title stands out and matches other important information such as the title of the main celebrity 'Pete' and the bands within the magazine, while the other plainer colours blend in. The model on the front cover is very important as they are representing that particular issue and how well it sells. The page is quite minimalist, apart from a short quote from the main celebrity which idealy makes the reader want to read on. The barcode, date and issue number is hidden at the bottom of the page as well as further added detail. The magazine is also fitting with the season of issue as it was published in January, and there is already details of upcoming summer festivals i.e Glastonbury tickets. The theme of colour was obviously yellow, red, black and white and the page is only made up of those four colours other than the model.

On the contents page there is a bold title and large main article picture, both clearly standing out while the rest of the content is significantly smaller. The page has a mixture of both images and writing so the page is not domineered too much by one or the other. Tabbed onto the small images are page numbers, obviously signifying page numbers which can be matched up to the 'Features' listed on the column on the left. Tabbed underneath the subheadings is a small box tabbed 'Regulars' which gives even more detail as even though there are new articles printed all the time, there are also consistent popular topics which are updated every issue.
In this double page spread, immediately your eyes are drawn to the image of the models sitting on the left page. The large image clearly interests readers with the different colours and the different models. The main image also contrasts well with the text, as the main colours of the page are white and blue and the fact that other colours are used in the photoshoot draws attention to it but the colours all blend in well together on the page making it pleasing to the readers eye. The text balances out the large image with the quantity of text, however certain sections of the text are enlarged which further make the reader want to continue. So that the double page spread is not too domineering, on the right hand side, half of the page has been used for another article which is still in relation to the theme of music and bands which has already been portrayed throughout the page.
