Preliminary.

This is the front cover of my Preliminary work. I decided that I would do print work for my coursework, this means that I will make a front cover, contents page and double page spread of a music magazine. The preliminary task to this was to create a college magazine front cover and contents page. The process I used to create this was by uploading the picture I took on to an A4 page; I then downloaded a font from www.dafont.com then uploaded it on the picture. I used some effects on the font such as drop shadow. I also used effects on the picture such as the lighten mode. I also used touch up tools on the models face, such as the spot healing brush. However, my preliminary work has a few problems, one of these is the right hand side of the cover is bare; on a real magazine this would cause problems because space is money. Also I think the colour scheme is a bit boring as it is all a dull blue colour and isn't very vibrant. Also the text is quite boring as they are all quite similar. Another problem is that the picture has been a bit 'washed out' because of the effects I have used on it. However, I do think that overall it has been a success, for a first attempt at creating a front cover on Photoshop. This is the second part of my preliminary work- the contents page. On this part I used the eye dropper tool to get the same colour as the front cover background, and to get the same colour text as my front cover. I also used the dropshaddow effect on the text again. However there are also a few problems with this because it is a bit rough, for example, there are no pictures relating to the stories, in a real magazine and in my final piece I will use proper pictures and a better colour scheme. Also there are no stories it just says "text goes here". I also think that the contents page needs more time spent on it. However I think that the contents page has a basic feel of one, so I think that overall it has been a success.
